Chinese new year

In China, the New Year does not start on January 1, but on February 1, 2022. This is because in China it follows a lunar calendar that is based on the 12 cycles of the moon, which has 12 months and in leap years 13 months.

While most countries are governed by the Gregorian calendar, based on the Earth's translational motion, the Chinese calendar is based on the phases of the moon and the position of the sun. Another curiosity is that the Chinese zodiac is formed by 12 signs, corresponding to 12 animals that are influenced by the fundamental elements of the universe, water, fire, wood, metal and earth.

Thus, according to the analysis of Chinese Oriental Astrology, in 2022 we enter the year of the water tiger yang, which is the third sign of the zodiac, and promises to be a year full of unusual dynamism, given the association of the sign with the dynamism and determination.

As for the highlighted element, water, it symbolizes the fluidity, transparency and wisdom that will be combined with the energy movements that the tiger sign represents. This combination suggests, for the Chinese, a very busy year, with relevant events, but light and spontaneous.

This lightness does not mean less intensity, as personal and collective choices contribute a lot to global energy.

In short, the main features of Chinese New Year 2022 are wisdom and open and transparent communication.
This passage, being so important in China, always involves celebrations that span 15 days. Many traditions that are part of the country's culture are practiced, and everything involves superstitions as well as positive thoughts for a new cycle that begins. So, as in the rest of the world, the Chinese also believe that what we do in the early hours of the New Year can be decisive.

In the days leading up to the celebration, the houses are all cleaned in detail to free families from bad energies and to bring good luck. The houses are decorated with lights and red bands, which refer to prosperity and celebration and the sky fills with fireworks to light up Chinese cities.

In addition to all these traditions, one of the most important events is the union of families. Even those who live far away make it a point to get together on this remarkable day, when they usually exchange gifts and enjoy a special dinner, considered one of the main meals of the year.

The closing of the New Year's celebration is marked by the Lantern Festival, where families gather and small lanterns are launched into the sky with individual wishes of each person. A symbolism for looking for a good and happy year.
